Our staterooms are an alluring escape from the non-stop action our cruise ships are known for. On March 11, 2016, the vessel was officially delivered to RCI by Meyer Werft in Bremerhaven Germany. The delivery ceremony was attended by Richard Fain (RCCL's CEO and Chairman) and Bernard Meyer (Meyer Werft's owner).

Ovation of the Seas Deck Plans Combine Family Fun and Adult-Only Relaxation

Passengers are not required to wear formal attire for dinner, but those who enjoy dressing up will probably not feel overdressed on formal nights. With so much to see, do and discover, Ovation delights and excites in equal measure and is ideal for longer itineraries, which give passengers time to enjoy the many onboard attractions to the full. The Ovation of the Seas deck plan does a great job separating the louder public areas from the sleeping quarters. Cabins to avoid on Ovation of the Seas are few, but include those on decks 4 and 6, as they are directly adjacent, above and/or below public areas that remain open until the wee hours, including the casino and the Two70ยบ lounge.

The vessel left the shipyard and was tugged down Ems River on a 26 mi / 42 km long conveyance itinerary from  Meyer Werft Papenburg to Eemshaven Holland (North Seas / Baltic Sea) arriving on March 12 at ~6 pm. The 2016-built Ovation of the Seas cruise ship is the 3rd Quantum-class Royal Caribbean liner, with sisterships Quantum OTS (2014) and Anthem OTS (2015). Similarly designed are the "Quantum Ultra-Class" Spectrum OTS (2019) and Odyssey OTS (2020). On February 11, 2011, under “Project Sunshine”, the shipowner Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL) announced the order of a new vessel. It represented a new passenger ship class of all three vessels, the first of which (Quantum) was delivered in 2014. On February 29, 2012, RCCL ordered the second “Sunshine” ship - Anthem (launched in 2015).

RCI-Royal Caribbean unveils China deployment plan for 2025-2026 season

As season 2017 extension, 4 new Royal Caribbean Australia cruises from Sydney were added. The boat has 16 decks, of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins. Royal Caribbean’s Ovation of the Seas is a massive ship with a total capacity of 4,905 passengers. Since 2019, it is based between Alaska, Sydney, Singapore and Honolulu, but its decor and design reflect the ship's original deployment in China. A symbol of good luck and a national treasure of China, a 10-metre tall (32-feet tall) panda and cub were designed with Chinese passengers in mind (joining Felicia the Pink polar bear on Quantum and Gigi the giraffe on Anthem). There is also an enlarged casino, and shops in the Royal Esplanade have been stocked with more high-end designer goods and Asian cosmetic brands.

A total of 25 onboard dining options are available (14 are complimentary).

The ship berths at the City Cruise Terminal in the Western Docks, where its fleetmates also dock when visiting the city. The first steel for the third vessel in the Quantum class was cut on 18 September 2014, the same day its name was announced to be Ovation of the Seas.[9] The keel was laid down by Meyer Werft on 5 March 2015. Before the first piece of the keel was lowered into place, Adam Goldstein, President and COO of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., the holding company of RCI, placed a lucky coin in the dock. The keel was formed of 74 blocks.[10] The first section was launched on 20 June 2015. The dress code on Ovation of the Seas is casual during the day and a little bit smarter in the evening.

Ovation of the Seas Scores High on Entertainment Options

Get a bold, new perspective on Alaska’s wilderness onboard one of the world’s most groundbreaking ships, Ovation of the Seas® as you sail between unforgettable shores from Skagway to Juneau. Along the way, you’ll get to soak up the North’s natural splendor as you cruise along Alaska’s Inside Passage and get an up-close look at Dawe’s Glacier and Endicott’s Arm. Follows the complete list of Ovation of the Seas lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults. The 4200-passenger ship Ovation OTS is a Quantum-Class vessel which in size is significantly smaller in comparison to RCI's Oasis-Class.

Reservations for all restaurants can be made online ahead of the cruise. Though not required, reservations are definitely recommended to ensure guests get to eat where they want, when they want. Food and service at the main restaurants, Silk, Chic, American Icon, and The Grande, is varied and offers an array of experiences. Ovation OTS also has RCI's Virtual Balcony Interior cabins (with floor-ceiling 4K UHD screens that receive real-time video streaming from the ship's outside cameras). Compared to the Oasis-class, Quantum-class liners have larger staterooms, more connected cabins (for families with kids) and Studios (designed for solo travelers).

Ovation is Royal Caribbean's third Quantum-class liner, with younger "WOW" sisterships Quantum (2014) and Anthem (2015). There was a possibility RCCL to order a fourth Quantum-class vessel as this option was included in the shipbuilding contract. All Quantum-class liners don't have Viking Crown (top-deck observation lounge) and an ice skating rink. Entertainment options are brand new, with many "firsts at sea" present in the line's brochures. During Ovation's 2016 Asia season (homeported in Tianjin and Hong Kong), RCI (for the first-time-ever) partnered with local culinary experts to provide onboard over 20 signature Chinese dishes.

Confirming the Internet rumours, Royal Caribbean home-ported the new Ovation ship in China (Tianjin-Beijing). On April 13, 2016, Royal Caribbean announced that Fan Bingbing, internationally-acclaimed Chinese actress, would act as the Godmother for the world’s newest and most technologically advanced cruise ship Ovation of the Seas. The announcement was made by President, Royal Caribbean International – China and North Asia Pacific, Dr Zinan Liu, at a press conference in Beijing at the Great Hall of People. Bingbing is the first Chinese personality chosen to be the Godmother of the international cruise line. She officially named Ovation of the Seas at an inaugural ceremony on June 24, 2016, in Tianjin, China. Among the fun facts is the Royal Caribbean's "Chinese affair" - Ovation is the world's first cruise liner built for China, starting operations in China and christened by a Chinese godmother - Fan Bingbing.

In 2016, Ovation OTS joined in China the RCI ships Quantum, Legend, Mariner, and Voyager. This made Royal Caribbean the company with the ever-largest fleet operating on the Chinese market. With its age-appropriate children's clubs and huge SeaPlex sports and entertainment complex, Ovation of the Seas is a magnet for families, so expect to see plenty of kids during school holidays.

Ovation of the Seas mainly sails from Seattle during the northern summer season and re-positions to Sydney during the southern summer season. Get a front seat to the best of the Oceania when you cruise from Sydney, Australia. Marvel at the famous Opera House, drift along stunning beaches, and explore charming coastal shores like Adelaide and Eden. Pioneer Alaska onboard Ovation of the Seas®, one of the world’s most groundbreaking ships. Follows the complete list of Ovation of the Seas restaurants and food bars. Cross Alaska  from your bucket list, or head to the outback for an amazing adventure in Australia onboard Ovation of the Seas®.

Followed the Suez Canal relocation cruise from the UK to China (Southampton to Tianjin). This 53-day ("world cruise") itinerary was officially named "Global Odyssey". North Star is at a fee and also can be privately booked (for special events). At "iFly by RipCord", each passenger is fitted with goggles, helmet, and jumpsuit before jumping into the chamber (1-min sessions). These vessels also have Bionic Bar where "bartending robots" mix up cocktails ordered via a tablet.

The ship packs in some of Royal Caribbean’s family favorite amenities, including  the RipCord by iFly wind tunnel, the North Star observation pod, a rock-climbing wall, and the FlowRider surfing simulator. The Ovation of the Seas pool deck (Deck 14) is ample and fun, with several hot tubs, a family pool and a splash area for kids. However, despite the large number of passengers onboard, staff go out of their way to get to know passengers and make their cruise holiday memorable. Friendly passengers who stand out (in a good way) are treated especially well.
